This weekend, the KC Blues Rugby Football Club is hosting their summer 7's tournament at Hodge Park 9am-5pm Saturday. Teams from all over the Midwest and MoKan area are coming to have a crack at 1st place in the opening tournament for the summer. There will be snacks, beers, and good sport all to be watched on what is supposed to be a nice day.
Summer 7's is 7 on 7 rugby with 7 minute halves in a tournament style bracket. Teams play in generally pools of 3 or 4 and the top 1 to 2 teams advance to the elimination rounds. In this particular tournament, there will be a Men's Division and Boy's High School Division. Plenty of talent will be on display to kick off the season, and a lot of Blues players will prove themselves, knock off the rust, and have a good run at the upcoming tournament. High schoolers from around the area will get to show their stuff too, with future Blues players and possible talent for USA Rugby as well. If you're looking for something to do, come watch a few games out at Hodge. It's a great place to watch good sport and learn the game of rugby, as well as have a couple drinks too. I may be biased, but I can't recommend rugby events enough. Even if you don't know the game too well they're still a fun and welcoming social atmosphere. Come out and see it some time!
