Disclaimer: This title assumes that KU's football seasons were consistently good pre-2008, this is not the case, but rather this title actually questions if the Jayhawks will no longer be consistent Big 12 bottom dwellers in football, hence the quotation marks. Thank you, carry on to the article.
The Kansas Jayhawks football team is 2-0 for the first time since 2011. This in of itself is good news for the future of KU football, but not only that, KU football is ranked FIRST in the NATION in scoring offense. NOT ONLY THAT HOWEVER, KU football has had back to back Big 12 defensive players of the week in Lonnie Phelps, Sr. and Jacobee Bryant. IT DOES NOT END THERE THOUGH, as Jalon Daniels has appeared as the Manning Award player of the week and has garnered awards committee attention. So yeah, it's been a really big week for KU football ASIDE from the fact they beat West Virginia in Morgantown.
The Leipold era got off to a somewhat slow start, but in college ball that is completely normal. In the second year of his contract, he has seemed to produce a different air around KU football. An air of positivity, intensity, brotherhood, and poise. KU football looks confident and they look like they belong on the field for the first time in years, the question is though: Does it last?
Mind you Turner Gill was an upstart coach from Buffalo who had a lot of MAC successes under his belt much like Leipold. He also started 2-0 in 2011...Then proceeded to lose the rest of his games as coach of KU football... I will say though however that once again, the energy feels different in Lawrence, Kansas. The fanbase is excited, people are coming to games and are excited to go, the team looks as good as it's been in a VERY long time. We could very well see a turnaround for KU football, but will it be permanent? I would love to know your thoughts in the comments or on social media. Best answers as always will be featured in the ScorchCast. Feel free to leave your opinions as well, K-State and Mizzou fans, I want to hear what you think of this...
